Last week, Catholic Archivist was changed from public to private in order to change some things. We have not stopped our renewals, which are still in motion; the reason for this is that we wanted people to access our content at all times, for the risk of censorship is always present.
Let us introduce you to some of the changes:
Books Taken Away
We always have made sure our books have at least 1 approbation from the competent authorities. The reasons for this are the following:
- Those are the laws of the Church
- Aprobations, Nihil Obstat, Imprimaturs, and the like, are an assurance that the book is free from doctrinal error.
- We are still learning theology. Therefore, it is impossible for us to review all books like if we had the expertise of a highly-trained Cardinal, and so it is better to trust the Bishops.
However, some of the books we found had some things that we found questionable and suspected on the whole book. For example; "General Introduction to the Sacred Scriptures" recommended a book by Alfred Loisy, a modernist. The book "Controversial Catechism" denied Papal Infallibility - it was written before the Vatican Council.
I became concerned that other books may have similar problems to, and prefered to take a month to review them and the credentials of their authors, and share them with more confidence once I have read them. This books have been taken away momentarily.
Illustrations
You will notice our Saturday and Monday book reviews are decorated with illustrations. The reason for this is that images enhance the physical appareance of the blog and augment it's SEO (Search Engine Optimization). We hope you like our illustrations, as we add them to our blog posts.
Labels
I tried to organize the labels a bit, because before they were very random and disorganized. "Downloading Suggestions" is not much different from "Books to Preserve", therefore, we use "Books to Preserve" only for books, and "Downloading Suggestions" for websites. "Links" is used for those posts that offer links to other websites, "PDF" for those which offer links to our PDF collections.
Site Map
Because it is hard to do it, we are still working on a Site Map. This will optimize your searches by topic, author, genre (book, article, etc.) and more! We will alo link the best books there.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
